Child Custody Legal Fees After Fathers Death

Hello everyone, firstly I would like to thank you from the bottom of my heart for taking the time out of your day to read our story and share it. 

On August 7th, 2020 my son Kemmar Copeland received his angel wings prematurely. Kemmar was a father of four beautiful children, a husband, son, nephew, cousin, brother, uncle and friend. Kemmar passed away at the young age of 33 years old of a heart attack. 

Unfortunately Kemmar leaves behind his two children without a parental figure, although I their grandmother have stepped in to fight for custody of my family and keep them out of the Children's Aid System or have them separated by their birth mothers whom to this date have not been actively involved in their lives. Unfortunately his grieving widow cannot manage all four children and will be raising her two (blended family) children. 

With my son/best friend passing away so suddenly I am at a complete loss. I feel like I NEED to do this for my grandchildren whom I adore, and for my son to honour and protect his children as he can no longer be here to do so. Currently I am struggling with the legal/lawyer fees to fight for custody, I am an older woman who has arthritis in her knees, and hands and throughout her body. I am limited in the work that I can do and therefore cannot "pick up" extra hours to help with all the bills coming in.

My grandchildren do not know much of their other side of the family as they have been absent throughout their lives. Ka'aliyha was adopted into our family and loved like nonother. Kemmar knew she was not his biological child but knew she was his child and never looked back, he fought for her custody over her biological mother and father whom where unfit at the time to care for her. Kemmar Junior his son has not had a relationship with his biological mother since he was a toddler. Neither of these beautiful babies know anyone other than our family as theirs. We want to keep fighting to keep them in our loving family. No child should have to lose a parent at such a young impressionable age, much less to have to worry about their living conditions and being put into the Children's Aid system or forced to reside with their other biological relatives whom they have been estranged from.

I am a mother and grandmother who needs to protect her family and do her absolute best to keep them safe and together with family. These children have gone through a lot this year with a global pandemic and losing their father and role model. Kemmar was a very family oriented young man, he was the type of man to give a stranger the shirt off his back if he knew they needed it more. Please whatever you can do is greatly appreciated, even if it is simply to share this with friends and family. My family thanks you from the bottom of our hearts. This first Christmas we knew would be overwhelming, but currently we have other pertinent matters ahead of being able feel like we can express ourselves/grief as there is so much to be done for our family to feel somewhat "whole/normal" without Kemmar.
