Hello!
My name is Emily Marmo and I own Family Martial Arts in Goshen, NY. I am raising funds in order that I may become a facilitator for "Athlete's Safety Matters," which is a nationally recognized program for grades K-12 designed to teach children how to stay safe during athletic programs and through their lives as athletes. It covers topics such as:
Safety awareness
Shared responsibility for safety
Safe Adults
Types of abuse
Red Flags
Safety Rules
Bullying
Cyberbullying
Digital abuse
Digital safety tips
Digital citizenship
Safety Rules
This training will allow me to speak to both my students and athletes as well as those in the community about important issues that are often very hard to approach in age appropriate ways. This curriculum is designed to be taught in educational age blocks so it remains appropriately on topic no matter the age.
If I am able to secure the funding to become a facilitator, the programs and classes that I am able to lead would always be free of charge and would be purely for athlete and community benefit. I will not recoup any financial gain from facilitation. I am hopeful that I will be able to utilize my training with school sports teams as well as recreational teams outside of school settings.
Any funds in excess of the amount needed will go towards purchasing additional training from the Monique Burr Foundation. (https://mbfpreventioneducation.org/)
