Chief Gator FF Cancer Prevention

My wonderful husband,Chief Van Robertson, has been diagnosed with a rare cancer, cholangiocarcinoma. This particular cancer can be linked to the career he so loved...being a firefighter. He is determined that other firefighters not suffer this same fate. We are raising money to purchase and donate turnout gear cleaning machines (called extractors) and/or back up gear for fire departments in need. Our 501 status is pending. This is only the beginning for us. Firefighters are exposed to carcinogens on every call. Over 60% of those carcinogens remain on their turnout gear even after leaving the fire. Often that same gear is stored right next to their bed at the ready for their next call. Our plan, along with supplying extractors, is to supply additional gear and to educate the public to the dangers firefighters face during their entire shift and their overall career. We believe the public and businesses will get behind these courageous first responders to help supply this much needed equipment.  We have to start somewhere and hope that you can help us launch our cause.
