Chi Psi Philanthropy 2018

In 2004, Gordon Bailey, a Chi Psi Fraternity Brother at the University of Colorado, passed away as a consequence of alcohol overdose.  As this story sadly repeats itself across the nation, our local chapter of Chi Psi at the University of Virginia is dedicated to promoting awareness among college students about the dangers of binge drinking.

Chi Psi is a sponsor of the Gordie Center for Substance Abuse Prevention, a nonprofit organization that creates and disseminates evidence-informed programs to decrease the negative consequences of hazardous drinking and illegal drug use among college students. Specifically, the Gordie Center intends to focus our donation on new product development, such as an app that allows the user to determine their BAC. Together, we've partnered to promote health and wellness, promote intervention and education, and provide support for students in recovery. This year we will be hosting a Waffle Lodge benefit event on grounds as well as reaching out through our online campaign. Thank you for your support and we look forward to sharing the results of our campaign.

Chi Psi is dedicated to combatting alcohol and drug abuse because, in today's college environment, students face more challenges than ever. Our mission includes community involvement and fostering a healthy student environment in all aspects of life. With your support as a donor, we can pursue this mission and decrease the consequences of alcohol and drug abuse on grounds.
