Chhali (Mercy) Kharel Bista and her family

41-year-old Chhali Kharel (Mercy Kharel Bista), mother of two teenage daughters and wife to Mon Bista, has been diagnosed with cancer for the second time.

Eight years ago, she was diagnosed with ALL (Acute Lymphatic Leukemia) blood cancer and had been in remission for over seven years. Recently, she has been diagnosed with another cancer - bilateral ovarian cancer, which has spread to the pelvic areas and lymph nodes.

Chhali recently had surgery done at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, and three weeks after, she was recommended six rounds of chemotherapy following radiation therapy. She received her first round of chemotherapy on July 15 in her city of Grand Forks.

In the family, only her husband is an active employee. Although only around 80% of medical bills are covered, he has stated he can run the family if medical bills do not cover a large sum from private insurance. However, this would put a lot of financial stress on the family, as the husband, Mon, is the only worker.
