Cheyenne's Study Abroad

Donation protected
Hey everyone! My name is Cheyenne Lowden and I am currently a second year undergraduate student at California State University, Long Beach pursuing a degree in Criminal Justice and Forensic Science. Through hard work and dedication I have managed to maintain a 3.8, whilst being a Residential Assistant, Recording Artist and a full-time student.

Since freshman year, I was always intrigued at the idea of furthering my educational studies in another country, so when the opportunity presented itself to take a trip to Canada and earn credits towards my degree, I immediately jumped on board.

The opportunity to study abroad would contribute to many aspects of both my educational learning and personal growth. As a Criminal Justice major, it is required that we complete an internship, and taking the available courses will replace it. Replacing my internship will allow me to focus on my minor (Forensic Science) while staying on track with my four-year graduation plan. After college, I plan to attend law school and eventually, become a public defender. The experience of studying abroad would expose me to a myriad of different people and would diversify my understanding of the world around me. Studying abroad will also give me the opportunity to serve as a global leader, enhancing my intercultural development, working alongside others of diverse backgrounds. Overall, the educational and personal experiences studying abroad provides will enrich my career development in ways that are unobtainable, elsewhere.

Details of the trip are the following:
Prior to taking flight to Canada, the first 5 days of the trip will be held at CSULB, where we will be getting hands on training and taking a brief introductory course. From July 1-14, courses will be held at British Columbia Institute of Technology in Vancouver, Canada. In Canada, students will:
-Apply scientific principles to evidence examination and criminal investigation
-Take on the role of a forensic scientist by examining evidence recovered from mock crime scenes
-Learn hands on examination techniques with different microscopes, crime kits and devices
-Compare the differences and similarities of U.S. and Canada methods of forensic studies.

*Just to name a few!

Your Donations will help pay for:
