Help Chestnut Bend Install a Disc Golf Course!
Hi! My name is Fisher Anderson and I'm fundraising for a disc golf course in the Chestnut Bend neighborhood common area. Here is some more information on the course:
- Who I Am:
I am a Jesus following football player at Franklin High School. I am going into my Senior year overflowing with excitement for the best year of my life. I’ve been playing football for 12 years and now have the opportunity to play at the collegiate level. I enjoy school at FHS and was the Class President the last two years of high school. I am going to be a Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) Co-President this year as well as hosting team Bible studies and discipleship groups. I played as many sports as I could growing up, and have lettered in basketball and wrestling as well as earning Lineman of the Year on the field last year. Disc golf became a hobby of mine over Quarantine and continues to play a role in my life today. The idea of a neighborhood disc golf course arose after just a couple weeks, and I’ve been working with Chestnut Bend to get this accomplished since then. I hope you can help me achieve this dream of mine!
- What Disc Golf Is:
Disc Golf is exactly what it sounds like, golf with discs instead of clubs and balls. Much like ball golf, disc golf is scored with the lowest score winning the round. Disc golf is one of the fastest growing sports on this earth. As of today, there are well over 11,000 established courses worldwide with two new courses being installed every 24 hours. The only things required to turn a natural expanse into a great disc golf course are: baskets, tee-pads, and signage. There are many benefits to playing disc golf for everybody: The sport itself is very easy to learn and gets people outdoors exercising. It can be played solo, but groups can have tons of fun playing disc golf with almost no effort. Unlike golf, disc golf embraces the raw expanse of area to maximize the common area’ s potential without making major changes. The sport is cheap to play, and the course practically takes care of itself. Discs can be bought for as little as $10 and investments are upfront, rather than recurring.
- Why I’m Doing it:
I purchased my first disc in the fifth grade, which sadly laid dormant in my garage for years before I ventured out with two of my friends over last year’s Quarantine to try out disc golf. By the end of the round, my friends and I shared countless laughs at our attempts. Lo and behold, a local pro who had watched us struggle through the round offered to give us some tips, and eventually some discs. We quickly found that the nature of a relaxing yet competitive sport perfectly fit the lifestyle of anybody with an arm and a few hours to spare. We played every single day of the extended summer, bringing new groups of friends to play with us everywhere we went. Not everyone was good, but everyone sure as heck had a great time playing. A few of us are now Professional Disc Golf Association (PDGA) members with a handful of tournaments under our belts. When we would play at a local course, I would think to myself “How awesome would it be to have a disc golf course in my backyard?” The neighboring Cottonwood course gave me the inspiration to look in my own neighborhood to build a course. Within a couple of months I started to ask around and put this idea out there to be approved. Countless texts and calls have been made in order to keep this ball rolling and make progress on a neighborhood course over the past year and a half. Needless to say, this project has been a grind. The next step in the process is funding the purchases for the course.
- What The Funds Are For:
We are looking to buy 9 Prodigy T3 baskets and 9 tee-pads and signs to go along with each hole. The baskets are tournament level quality, and will last half a century under the proper care. These baskets will hopefully be used for generations.

Also, Venmo is an easy way to donate (to Fisher-Anderson). The Chestnut Bend HOA is generously donating $0.50 for every dollar we raise, so every penny counts! Just as a reminder every basket costs about $300, so donations over that amount will account for an entire basket and limitless fun!
