Cheryl's Medical Relief Fund

As most of you know Cheryl's passion is anything involving horses.  On May 26th Cheryl was horse camping with some friends in Sacred Heart, MN.

While camping; she was riding a friends horse in the campground and they were going from a trot into a canter and the horse became hard for Cheryl to contral and she felt her only option was to dismount. The horse was going out of control at a high rate of speed and Cheryl bailed off; bounced across the gravel road and was knocked unconscious. She regained consciousness after a few minutes and was tended to by her friends and nurses that were at the campground.

She was then transported by ambulance to a hospital in Granite Falls; where they ran tests and a CT scan which revealed a brain bleed and they were also concerned with a possible spinal and pelvis injury. They felt that Cheryl should be air lifted to Hennepin County Medical Center where there were better resources to treat whatever possible injuries that she had.

Once she arrived at HCMC; she was examined by several specialists to determine the extent of her injuries. Another CT scan was done and the bleeding had not gotten any worse but a couple small skull fractures were discoved. They monitored her and would perform additional scans to determine if surgury was necessary.

By the next morning the brained bleed had stopped and there were no injuries to her spinal chord or pelvis. Cheryl was diagnosed with a Tramatic Brain Injury; and they continued to monitor her and had PT and OT specialists working with her. She remained in the hospital for a couple more days until they felt that she was strong enough to go to stay with one of her children.

Cheryl needs to be monitored 24/7 currently and it is unknown as to when she will be able to return to a somewhat normal life. She cannot be by herself, drive, work, be on electronics until she has a checkup after a few weeks of rest.

Cheryl is facing some extreme medical and living expenses without having an income for the unforseeable future.

Please take a minute and lend some support to our dear friend, mother, sister, daughter, and grandmother to get her through this most difficult time.
