Cheryl Rice-Gillman's Funeral Fund

Very early Monday morning, Cheryl began vomiting blood and was admitted into the Mountain Vista Medical Center ICU. Originally, the doctors were very optimistic for her recovery, as none of her symptoms seemed dire. They had discussed the possibility of liver disease, but needed to run another test to confirm it. When they tried to run the test, her blood was acidotic and her breathing was impaired, so they needed to wait until the next day to ensure she was able to remain in a stable condition long enough to be strong enough for the procedure. However, the following morning, her liver began to fail and sent her into multi system organ failure. Her heart began showing signs of an electrolyte shift and beating arrhythmatically. At this point, the doctors told us she was no longer able to recover and wouldn’t survive the night. Cheryl passed away at 12:55 PM on 6/21/17 surrounded by loved ones. 
Cheryl was a loving friend, mother, sister, aunt, daughter, and grandmother. She was proud of her entire family and loved talk about them to whoever would listen. She was a wonderfully generous person with a heart of solid gold and would offer to give the shirt off her back to complete strangers if they needed it. She often put others needs before own, frequently at her own expense, without ever thinking twice. Cheryl was a social butterfly who could pry a conversation out of even the most introverted people and always leave them laughing. She was a patriot through and through, and volunteered many hot days in the sun each year at events that helped homeless veterans find housing. Cheryl was a warm, vibrant, beautiful soul and will be greatly missed by all those who knew and loved her. 
As the loss of Cheryl was sudden and unexpected, the financial weight of crematory services has proven to be difficult for her family to manage. Please help us raise the funds to be able to honor Cheryl’s final wishes and put her to rest where she always wanted to be.
