Cheryl and David's Lost Home

Donation protected
On Friday May 11th my mother Cheryl and her husband David looked outside and saw the water approaching their house due to the major snow melt and flooding of the rivers in their town of Grand Forks B.C. This water fast approached making contact with the stair case about 4-5 feet below the doorway of the house. Less than 10 minutes later the water levels rose to the door way of the house. Leaving them no choice but to get the truck keys, their 2 dogs and themselves and drive away to dry safe land. Not being able to grab anything else, because if they had they would have lost their truck too. By the time they could circle back to the area and get a visual of their house and property, the shed was almost 3/4 submerged(full of new tractors and lawn care equipment), their little car wasn't visible anymore, their new camper trailer was almost fully submerged and the house had looked to have 2-3 feet of water inside. This was and is only the start of the water levels raising. In the photograph attached their house was basically fully submerged. Hardest part about loosing their home is they moved to Grand Forks to be with family a few years ago and the house was less than 1 year old as they bought the property last year and put a brand new mobile home on it along with the barn style shed. Now that the water levels have consumed everything. They have nothing to go home to once water levels recede which wont be for a while yet.  All they will find is ruined belongings of her late mother/father and brother, clothes, furniture, tools, photos, electronics and reminders of how quick you can loose everything. I know they are not the only ones that have lost everything to this flood but as of this morning the insurance company has informed them they will NOT have coverage on their house or belongings. They have to start all over!

This crushes me to see my mother and her husband work so hard to be debt free and build their home and lives together. Now they have been knocked backwards 10's of years. She has spent 34 years of her life taking care of her 3 children while being widowed and a single mom for 20 of them. She was a single mom that fought for us to play sports and do what we could to have an amazing childhood and life. She postponed her dreams and desires for us. She had that finally and it was all taken away in one foul swoop. She has spent many hours, days and years volunteering as a registrar for hockey,  organizer for fairs, fundraisers, hot lunches and having the neighbourhood over day in and day out. Plus for well over half her life was caring for her family, friends and others! This has been a difficult road for them so far and its just begun. So now it is time I help my mother, it's my turn to make her feel loved and cared for beyond words! I'm doing so by asking all of you to help me help her get through this very difficult time. Any funds at this time will help them get back what they deserve, with less heartache and debt. Anyone that knows her can verify all that is said...

I thank everyone in advance for your generosity and support!!!
