We, Jim and Shanon, met in 2011 when we were already fairly old. Neither of us having any previous children, we waited a whole six months after getting married to start a family. It took a few months, but when we got that second pink line (positive pregnancy test), we were ecstatic! Hopes & Dreams of being parents were within reach. Lots of daydreaming and name discussing went on in that short time, but too soon turned to heartbreak when we lost our baby at 10-1/2 weeks. They say it's common; 1 in 5 will miscarry; there's nothing to do but try again.
Here we are two years later after lots of trying and several rounds of fertility treatments and lots of credit card debt to pay for those treatments and... nothing. We could keep trying the treatments and hope that someday she will produce a good egg and get a positive test, and we'll nervously approach each and every day and pray that 'it' continues on....
Our best option is to do IVF (in-vitro fertilization) so that our doctor can get several eggs at once, pick out the good ones and give them a chance!
We have decent insurance, but it doesn't cover IVF. Our out-of-pocket expenses for IVF will be between $14,500 - $16,000. So many of you were able to conceive without spending a dime (minus the dates, courting, and wedding if you had one), and it just doesn't seem fair to the rest of 'us'. Some of us may have done similar treatments. And a fewer still have done IVF--you know what we are faced with!
We have good jobs, but with the normal debt (like most Americans have), we cannot secure another loan. So we are turning to you gracious people: please help us start a family! We humbly accept anything you can offer, even if it's just prayer--prayer for funds or a natural conception. We believe God moves in mysterious ways and that a praying people can move God.
I've heard that God doesn't give us dreams without a way to reach those dreams, and if this is one of the ways, well here we are--reaching out to you, to help us make this dream a reality.
