Cherrie Lynn Fox

Hello everyone, this is Alex.

As many of you know, my mom, Cherrie Fox, passed away Friday, January 20th. She was, in many aspects, the fiercest and most determined person we know.

When she was first diagnosed with Stage IV cancer in March of 2022 she was given four months to live. Then, in October, she was told she had 2 months at most. In early December she was told she wouldn’t make it to Christmas. We are so grateful that she was able to exceed every life expectancy she was ever given, and was able to attend my wedding, see the birth of Dakota’s precious son, Barrett, and make it through the holiday season with us and her four beautiful grandchildren.

My mom often casually pushed away the idea of her death, insisting she would make it to spring, when she would plant her garden. She damn near did. She readied herself, of course, and when she left us she went peacefully, but it was not until her final days when anyone would have known she was as sick as she was. Her body was ill, but her mind and her spirit were teeming with positivity and life.

We tried many times to ask about burial assistance or funeral arrangements and she would confidently tell us it was all taken care of. Maybe she didn’t want to add weight to the possibility of her dying. Or maybe she truly thought it was handled. Either way, as we’ve mourned our mom’s loss we have also found out that this unfortunately is not the case. And so, I am writing today to ask for assistance with funeral expenses and end of life costs. We have been lifted up by the community outpouring of love and comfort, the love and care our mom received while she was alive, and it is my hope that with your help we can allow an opportunity for everyone to pay their respects and celebrate her life.

This fundraising goal includes cremation, obituaries, facility use, and celebration of her life. We have tried to keep every thing as cheap as possible, including buying our own urn, and providing our own flowers. We are confident that with the vast amount of friendships and joy our mom brought to so many lives, if everyone donates whatever they’re capable of, we will easily meet our fundraising goal.

For those interested in attending, service will be held on January 28th. There will be a gathering to pay respects from 1-3pm at Titus Funeral Home in Syracuse (formerly Owen Family Funeral Home). Funeral service will begin at 3:00pm.

The address to the funeral home is as follows:
1001 S Huntington Street,
Syracuse, IN 46567

I thank you for your consideration and for the love and happiness each of you brought in some way or form to my mom’s life. Two of my mom’s favorite sayings were “I can do hard things” and “people are so good.” I am positive she would think neither if it weren’t for all of you.
