Almost 1 year ago, Michele lost the love of her life unexpectedly. Her husband, Chris, had been struggling with health issues as a result of a work-related injury for a long time, but his loss was still sudden and earth-shattering for Michele. Shortly after meeting Michele, she provided backup for me on a call I ran, and during that call, she found this adorable little pittie mix baby that needed a home. Michele and Chris were that home. And that is how Petunia Rose came into their lives. Chris loved Petunia like she was his own human child, and Petunia never left his side. Even at the end, Petunia was right there with Chris.

Recently, I’ve had the opportunity to get beautiful professional pictures taken of my own dogs, and Michele was kind enough to accompany me to help “wrangle” them for their pictures. In planning out my own pictures, Michele told me how Chris had wanted to get nice, professional pictures done of the two of them and Petunia, but they just kept putting it off. While picking out my photos, Michele started talking to one of the directors at the studio about getting a memorial photo done of Chris. She wanted to get a picture of Petunia with Chris’s service photo done, something to hang over the fireplace. Michele was so excited to get this picture done she wanted to go ahead and make an appointment right then and there.

And that is how this idea to start a GoFundMe came alive. The studio is Phil Hyman Photography up in Greenville, and they do amazing work. Unfortunately, amazing work comes with a not-so-amazing price tag. The size picture Michele was wanting starts at about $2000!! If you know Michele, you know that she is the kind of person that would help out a friend no matter what. Michele does so much for everyone in her life, and I thought this could be a good way to give something back to her.
