Cheri Rosen

This year we have watched our friends, family members, and neighbors face unprecedented challenges.  The Wells community is no exception, therefore we humbly ask you to step in and assist our Wells sister, Cheri Rosen, as she copes with the financial hardships associated with a chronic illness.

Cheri has been dealing with serious health issues since the age of forty, when she suffered from a pulmonary embolism, which was determined to be caused by a previously unknown genetic  blood clotting disease.  Cheri spent five months recovering in a nursing home to get off oxygen and out of  a wheelchair in order to return the career she is passionate about  a kindergarten/elementary school teacher in NYC.

Cheri taught for seven more years, despite lingering health issues.  Sadly, she had to give up her beloved teaching job, putting her in a very precarious financial situation.

Cheri's big heart took her back home to her family where she helped care for her paralyzed father, her ninety-six year old grandmother, and her mother who had her own health issues.  Sadly, her father and grandmother passed away, and then her mother was diagnosed with liver cancer and passed as well.

Less than six months after losing her mother, Cheri had a stroke that left her right side weakened, affecting her ability to walk and talk.  Frustratingly, it left her with some cognitive impairment, requiring home assistance.  Since the stroke, Cheri has been in and out of the hospital and  been witness to the devastation of COVID-19.  She has been unable to get proper home health care due to the pandemic, and now she faces yet another health crisis, blood clots in her legs.  She is currently recovering in a Staten Island nursing home and awaits another surgery, held off because of COVID.

Cheri's strong faith in God has been a comfort to her and helped sustain her, but  most of her family, her “rocks” are gone.  She cared for them in their time of need and now she needs us.  Let's be a family for Cheri.  We want to help by raising money for Cheri's medical expenses, as well as her living expenses.  Cheri's only focus should be her health, not where her head will rest at night, or where her next meal will come from.  We especially appeal to the Wells College community because we always take care of our family.  Our sisterhood is unbreakable and we want to make sure that Cheri's spirit and her faith remain unbreakable too.  Please share this appeal and help as generously as you can.
