This is Luna — a 10-month-old rescue living with the Acosta family in Quito, Ecuador — and she needs your help to save her life.
Luna’s Story
Two months ago, Luna was living on the streets of Quito. The Acosta family found her in the building below their house, and with no one else willing to take care of her, they took her in. After taking the necessary health precautions of checking her for diseases, Luna joined the Acosta family’s other two rescues, Kiara and Zuzu. The three dogs immediately formed a pack and haven't been apart since.
After a month of living with the Acostas, Luna began to have bloody discharge from one of her nostrils. On the 10th of April, she underwent an endoscopy to find the problem — a malignant tumor that can't be operated on due to its location in her head. The doctors suspect it's a TVT (Transmissible Venereal Tumor) which can be cured with chemotherapy sessions. To go from bad to worse, the Acostas' other two dogs are at a high risk of having been infected as well.

La historia de Luna
Hace dos meses, Luna vivía en las calles de Quito. La familia Acosta la encontró en el local debajo de su casa y, como nadie más quería cuidarla, la acogieron. Tras tomar las precauciones sanitarias necesarias y revisarla para detectar enfermedades, Luna se unió a las otras dos perritas rescatadas de la familia Acosta, Kiara y Zuzu. Las tres perritas formaron una manada de inmediato y no se han separado desde entonces.
Después de un mes viviendo con ellos, Luna comenzó a tener secreción sanguinolenta por una fosa nasal. En el 10 de abril, se le realizó una endoscopia para detectar el problema: un tumor maligno que no se puede operar debido a su ubicación en la cabeza. Los médicos sospechan que se trata de un TVT (tumor venéreo transmisible) que se puede curar con sesiones de quimioterapia. Para empeorar las cosas, los otros dos perros de los Acosta también corren un alto riesgo de haberse infectado.
