Chemka Village School

Donation protected
Hello!

We are reaching out to all of our family, friends, and contacts from every corner to extend an opportunity to do today’s small good deed!

We seek a very small donation to help purchase school supplies and potentially (depending how well the fundraiser goes) use the funds for necessary projects needed for the wonderful remote African village of Chemka.

Every single penny will be used towards the children’s supplies as we remove all middle-men. We will do all the work ourselves and team up with our friends from TrekkUp  for logistics to transport the supplies to Tanzania!

My friend Stacy Fisher and I recently visited the very remote village of Chemka approximately 1.5 hours from Arusha, Tanzania. We were acquainted with this village through one of our colleagues from the Foundation for African Empowerment , Samwel, who helped us commute to this area and organize meeting the children at school.

A bumpy, dirt road leads you into Chemka where you see their modest houses made of mud and grass-thatched roofs.  Though this village is dusty, poor, and suffers several challenges that affect their livelihood, health, and community growth, the villagers are extremely warm-hearted, hospitable, and showcase the most magical smiles.

You will encounter children and chickens running around & playing. Like in many settlements, farming provides the primary source of sustainability. Less than 20% of the land is under irrigation farming while the largest chunk is dry and cultivated once a year. Culture and lifestyle is diverse as different tribes such as Pare and Maasai inhabit the village.

During our visit, we gifted the children a duffle bag filled with sports equipment and school supplies. The nearly 400 children exploded with excitement screaming with joy. Since they normally play with make shift toys, their faces lit up with exhilaration, eagerness, and absolute delight with this small bag of gifts. They were happy to know that they are in the thoughts of others outside their community; they felt love from the outside world.  A humbling moment indeed to experience their gratefulness while knowing they don’t even have running water at their school.

Yet, the true heroes of the village are the teachers who donate their time to raise and educate the children as best they can. They are a very proud group who graciously welcomed us to their community.

We are asking for a mere $10 to $20 donation to help us work with the school in acquiring and transporting the supplies they desperately need to create another longer lasting opportunity of pure joy for the children.

As with our previous fundraiser, we will provide photos, receipts, an excel spreadsheet, and ALL expenditure information so you know how your dollar has helped the village.

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.  And from the children and teachers of Chemka, Asante Sana!
