Let's Get Chelli a Service Dog!!!

Donation protected
Dear friends and family,

My friend and neighbor, Michelle (Chelli) Kipp, is in need of a mobility trained service dog to help with walking, balance, direction, and other daily life skills. Ten years ago, at the age of 34, the onset of a type of cerebellar degeneration began in Chelli's brain. Since then she has experienced significant deterioration of neurons (nerve cells ) in the area of the brain that controls muscle coordination and balance. She lived the  first 34 years of her life healthy and well, not realizing she would experience this later in life. She received a college degree, worked as a veterinarian technician for 10 years, groomed for a 2 time olympic horse trainer, rode horses, and enjoyed life. She has always loved animals. The things that used to be easy for her (walking, balancing, etc.) have become increasingly difficult, to the point that she now needs daily help. Chelli has been looking into service dogs for the past couple of years. She has done extensive research and found a wonderful breeder and trainer of 28 years, who specializes in mobility service dogs (click on "Read Latest Update" below to see picture of Chelli, the trainer and service dog). This breeder is much less expensive than breeders/trainers in the 6 other states Chelli has been researching dogs in. She and her mom had the opportunity to visit the breeder last week (late August 2017), and walked with Ripley, a trained mobility service dog. When Chelli left to visit the breeder/trainer, she felt skeptical and unsure. When she returned she was the most excited I've ever seen her...hopeful and joyful to find something that will actually help! She was able to finally walk on uneaven surfaces...gravel, dirt, ramps, etc. Both she and her mother were amazed at how much a service dog would help Chelli. So together, we have decided to reach out to our community for help to raise the money for Chelli to purchase a trained service dog. The dog she will get is an 11 month old Smooth Coated Collie named Frazier, and will be trained just for Chelli's specific needs. I am excited to be a part of Chelli's journey, and I hope that with our help we can unite her and Frazier so they can begin a new and exciting life together. No amount is too small...a lot of a little adds up quickly! The goal amount is the exact amount Chelli will need to purchase Frazier, trained and ready to go, plus the handle Chelli will need to hold on to him.

With thankfulness,
