Help Chekole run his biggest race yet

Chekole is an elite runner who has been selected to represent Australia in March 2019, and an Ethiopian orphan whose Australian Citizenship is almost finalised. Chekole came to Australia in 2010 (aged 10) as an orphan, and now has the opportunity to represent Australia in running.
Many of you became aware of Chekole's journey on a segment on The Project. Chekole has been living with my partner and I for about 18 months. We met this remarkable young man through his school, where my partner is a teacher.
He had never attended school in Ethiopia and upon his arrival in Australia couldn’t understand, speak, read or write English. Since arriving and attending school, his English language skills have developed rapidly, as has his running prowess. Chekole is a very talented runner and has just been named in the Australian team to compete at the World Cross Country Championships in Denmark in March.
Chekole provides for himself; managing his education, running training, school and extracurricular activities with very little. It isn’t an easy feat for a teenager but he is an extremely driven and dedicated young man. We are hoping to raise money to enable him to attend World Cross Country Championships (approx. $3,000 to cover flights, accommodation, uniform, ground transportation etc).
We have been blown away by the community's support (thank you!). $3,000 of the funds raised will go directly to cover his trip to Denmark to compete at the World Cross Country Championships. We are helping Chekole set up a 'running account' where the additional funds will go to be spent on future running costs (such as running competitions and shoes).
