Chef Will Morris Needs Our Help

Donation protected
We all know that dealing with illness can totally derail your life. Now multiply that by two. That's what our incredible friend, Chef Will Morris, is dealing with right now. He needs our help, he needs it now, and we all know he’s too proud to tell you how hard things have gotten.

His mother and father are both very sick, and are being cared for in different locations. In the past six months Will has had to leave two jobs, he’s drained his entire 401k, maxed his lines of credit, and is ending his lease to move back home.

What’s going on?

Will’s father has end-stage renal failure. He’s now in a skilled nursing home receiving dialysis. Unfortunately Will’s father does not qualify for a kidney donation due to his age and failing health.

Will’s mother suffered a deep brain bleed in April, which led to a serious seizure disorder. Since then, she’s been hospitalized twice for Grand Mal seizures, and has to be rehabbed to get her mobility back. She is currently in the hospital, but when she goes home, she can’t be left alone.

Will has been balancing the individual needs of each of his parents, while having to travel between two facilities in the brutal Northern Virginia traffic. It’s time consuming, mentally and physically exhausting, and expensive.

What does Will need?

Most immediately, Will needs to have access to funds for the daily care-taking of his mother. Both his parents are pending Medicaid, but it’s been eight months and there’s still no coverage. When Medicaid kicks in, Will can get at-home nursing covered, but until then it’s 100% out of his pocket.

He’ll need about $200 a day to cover his mother’s nursing, or $1000 a week. This will allow him to do what he does best – get back in the kitchen, working and feeding people. Once Will can get back to work, his income can help cover regular expenses. But if he can’t work, his family’s crisis only gets worse.

Can we pull together and get Chef Will Morris back on his feet. His family needs him, and he needs us. As he says in his own words, “Thank you for helping me. I just do not know what I can do at this point.”

We love you Will, and we've got this, together!
