We friends of Wendy have gotten together to rescue her from losing her home to a predatory and unscrupulous lender. Cascade Funding, the successor to their original reverse mortgage lender is intent on foreclosing on the house that she and her husband Bob Bussinger built together as their forever home, their livelihood, and the heart of their professional and artistic lives.
When Bob arranged the mortgage with Financial Freedom , he was assured that Wendy would be able to remain in the house for the rest of her life, which assurances were repeated when Cascade Funding bought the mortgage two years ago. But after Bob passed away last year, Cascade Funding reneged on those promises and has given Wendy two choices: pay them their million dollar windfall profit or they will put her on the street. Not only has she lost Bob, and her income because of the pandemic, she is now faced with losing everything she has left. The firm of Fenton & Keller has won a preliminary injunction to temporarily halt the foreclosure, and is pursuing an action to enforce those promises and to prevent her home from being stolen.
For over twenty years Wendy and Bob donated their home and talents to raise money to support countless charitable organizations and worthy causes on the Monterey Peninsula and beyond.
Now it’s our turn to give back to Wendy. While the cost of fighting the foreclosure is more than she can afford, the cost of giving up would be devastating.
