Let me spit it out to you right from my hospital bed: I have stage 4 kidney disease, which is if not treated will be the end of me. That'll be the end of my sandwiches. Also, on top of that, I've been diagnosed with BPD (bipolar disorder), depression and anxiety. I'm currently recovering from many many years of AUD (alcohol use disorder). I've recently left my job and sent myself into treatment and paid out of pocket $44000 so far.

<div>When I was in treatment, I met with a psychiatrist who told me that my underlying trauma was the basis for all of my ongoing mental and physical issues. They referred me to a trauma program which costs upwards of $90000.

<div>I'm currently an outpatient, and cannot receive government assistance. I can't work because my kidney issues are unpredictable at the moment. This mounting debt is overwhelming and impacting my recovery. It's always in the back of my mind. I wish it was easier to explain. I wish I could get back to work and earn my own money but unfortunately I'm stuck here.
