“Cheering” for Christina

Donation protected
Meet Christina, an amazing friend, daughter, single mother, and cheer coach!  She began cheering at the age of 4 and through college.  She graduated from Teays Valley High School in 2001 and was pursuing her dreams by working as a regional competition director and analysts at national competitions.

Tragically, 15 years ago she was involved in an accident involving an ATV.  The throttle cable snapped and she wasnt able to get off in time.  When it flipped it flipped with her on it, her boot was stuck.  She recalls knowing something was terribly wrong when she couldn’t feel her legs hit the ground, although she saw them and heard them,  during her fall.

Since that day 15 years ago, she lives with chronic nureopathic pain.  She has at least one episode a day that makes her feel as if her legs are being set in acid.  It makes it nearly impossible to work a 9-5 job.  She has stayed in the hospital numerous times and had multiple surgeries.  Most of her hospital stays were due to things she can’t control like having infections that have turned septic.  She has had pain pumps placed surgically and been willing to try a lot of things to give her less pain.

July 4 of 2011 she was blessed to become a mother and let me tell you that Amelia was truly sent from God.  She now has the priveledge and honor of raising her, on her own.  Together they have faced and conquered so much in her short time being with us.  She is a strong little girl, who is always smiling and kind.  You would never know that she’s faced the challenges a long side her mom like she has!  She has the biggest heart and she loves her mama!

Christina hasn’t stopped, even though she has struggled.  She is currently the director of the cheer program for the Teays Valley Youth Baseball League.  She attends church regularly at Judah Tabernacle in Columbus, Ohio.  So many of us, are believing for a miracle and that she will walk again.  Until that happens, she is in a wheelchair, just doing life the best she can.

This is where we come in and can change her life.  Every day when she has to transport herself or Amelia to appointments, school, cheer, church, etc... she does it in a vehicle that isn’t equipped for her chair.  She has to take her chair apart and physically lift it over head.  It is becoming harder and harder for her to do this.  She has never said to me that she can’t do it.  She has never complained actually about any of her circumstances and that is why she deserves our help and support.  Can you imagine you leaving your home and having to lift a wheelchair over your head to do so?  I certainly can’t and honestly most days I would probably just stay home!

I can’t do it alone, but I know there are people out there that can help me, help them!  It’s been 15 years that she’s beat the odds and fought to have the most “normal” life she could after her accident!

Together we can make this 15 year mark her best year yet!  We can raise enough money together that she can purchase a vehicle that is equipped for her wheelchair.  Can you imagine what this girl can accomplish without the daily lifting of her chair in and out of her vehicle?! She’s been such an inspiration to so many people!  Especially the young girls that she helps through the cheer program.

No amount is too small!  When we join together,  even the smallest amount of financial support from many people can become so much!  If you can’t donate, please pray for Christina and Amelia, and share this with your friends!  Thank you all and God Bless you!
