Check Twice, Save a Life - Dewey

Donation protected

Dewey Miller was in a life threatening and debilitating motorcycle accident on July 1,  2017.

Dewey was very proud of his new motorcycle and how hard he worked to have something that both him and his wife could enjoy. It was a Saturday like any other. Dewey was on his way home to park his motorcycle and his wife would be there to pick him up so they could go watch fireworks with family. As Dewey was driving home he was struck blindly by a young driver. This accident was the worst thing that could happen for his family. His wife, by chance, was the first one on the scene finding her husband thrown off of his motorcycle lying motionless under her car. His wife, stood by his side watching blood run down the street, she  whispered the words, as she recalls, "it’s going to be okay, we're going to be okay" all while thinking he was dead. Fortunately, at this very moment a fire truck was coming down the road to respond to another accident. The first responders were able to stop and assist Dewey.  Dewey was rushed to the Hospital with serious injuries. His wife followed to the hospital thinking, "I can't go into that hospital, they are going to tell me he is dead", and wondering "Am I going to have to raise our kids on my own".

The extent of his injuries were unknown. His right side brutally beaten shattering his leg from his hip down, his chin left with an open wound exposing bone, his left leg mangled and torn, his head punctured and swollen in several areas, his feet cut as his shoes were ripped from his feet, and his skin rashed and bloody from sliding across the pavement.  One would think all is okay, however the doctors found blood in his abdomen and had to operate on him for more than five hours to ensure no internal bleeding.

Dewey had angels riding with him on that July day. From his wife being the first on scene, the fire truck happening to be there and facing survivable yet devastating injuries.

Dewey will face many surgeries to hopefully repair his legs. Surgeries that will greatly impact the wife and three children he provides for. As you can imagine, and as the doctors try to figure out how to repair his legs, he will be unable to move, walk and work to support his family. Any contribution during this very trying time is greatly appreciated as it will help with the many expenses for medical to keeping his family household running.

Your generosity, thoughts and prayers are appreciated by the Miller Family.
