CHD Cambodia Needs A New School!
Children with Hope for Development (CHD) is a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) in Cambodia with no religious or political ties, which provides children the opportunity to attend a FREE school. CHD was founded in June 2010 by Mister Sokha Treng. The organization is based in Po, a
small village in the rural area of Takeo Province, approximately 94 kilometers from the capital city Phnom Penh. Most children in Po Village come from poor rice cropping families. Attending a free school improves them with educational skills and gives them the opportunity to break out of the cycle of poverty, no matter their economic situation. Our vision is to improve the children’s confidence and to strengthen their feeling of self- worth in order to give them hope for their future.
CHD Mission Statement
Educate vulnerable, poor, and illiterate children
Give hope and self-confidence to children
Provide a safe environment where children can learn English from native speakers
Provide protection from violence and sexual abuse through education
Provide health care services
Offer classes to children in neighboring villages in order to spread educational
opportunities
CHD’s pressing needs are:
-A wooden school with desks, chairs, bookcases = $5,000
-A fence around the premises for protection from animals and trespassers = $3,000
-Two toilets = $2,000
-Ten second hand laptops=$3,000
-Educational books =$750
-Electricity and water =$360
-Internet connection=$360
-Field trip costs=$1,200
-School party costs=$1,200
