Two years ago, my life was planned out just the way I wanted. I was headed to chiropractic school, perusing my dream to become a doctor. In an instant, my life was forever changed. There was a new force of which I felt I had no control over, I was diagnosed with epilepsy and all seemed lost. It is not! I am a healer and Epilepsy can’t stop and won’t ever stop the passion I feel towards other humans, especially those underserved.
• FACT: The US has one of the highest mother mortality rates amongst modern industrialized nations
•FACT: African-American women are 4-5 times more likely to die during the time surrounding childbirth than Caucasian women.
Recently, the CDC has suggested that the presence of a birth Doula at a birth has many positive benefits, but what is a DOULA? “A birth doula is a companion who supports a birthing woman during labor and birth. Birth doulas are trained to provide continuous, one-on-one care, as well as information, physical support, and emotional support to the birthing woman and their partners.”
I am looking to raise $6,000 to join yet another battle, the fight for every woman to have a voice, support and an advocate during labor and childbirth. Your support will help me pay for Doula training and certification; including the cost of training materials, workshops and certification. Any support collected above my goal will be used to set up a non-profit organization for low income mothers to receive free lactation and newborn workshops from myself and other certified doulas throughout the community.Can’t stop won’t stop- Doula education fund
