Chattanooga Students Leading Change is a organization that started after the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School shooting in Parkland, Florida on February 14, 2018. The group has a grounding principal of raising awareness in our community about the issue of gun violence, advocating for common sense gun reform and red flag laws, and accountability from our legislators to talk about gun control with transparency and vote for the people. The students have organized the March for Our Lives in Chattanooga, led walkouts at their schools, launched a letter writing campaign, met with representatives from Senator Corker’s office, and traveled to Nashville in order to meet with one of Governor Haslam’s staffers and other state and local representative urging them to vote against HB 2208. CSLC is planning a trip to DC to meet with Senator Corker and Alexander and Representative Fleischmann. This would be a three day trip from April 18-21, the group is trying to raise money to cover transportation, room and board, and other expenses for the trip. Any extra donations past our goal will be used to fund the student’s future events. Thank you so much for your support.
