Chase's Diabetic Alert Dog

My son Chase was recently diagnosed with Type I diabetes.  He is 6 years old and his whole life has now been turned upside-down.  He must receive insulin shots before every meal or snack he wants to eat.  Because he is so young he can not yet have an insulin pump that assists with administering insulin.  So we are checking his blood sugar numerous times a day which takes a toll on his fingers, and giving him shots up to 6 times a day depending on his meals.  We are getting him a diabetic alert dog, which will warn us if his blood sugar levels drop or rise to an unsafe level.  Since he is sill in what doctors call the "honeymoon stage" his pancreas works on and off creating havoc when we give insulin at times.  A diabetic alert dog will help him detect when he is trending low or high and we can treat with either food or insulin respectively, before his levels become critical .  We are in need of the cost of the dog and training which is $12,500.   This covers the cost of the dog, the full training, in home visit/training with his dog, and any continual trainings that the dog may need after he comes home.  The down payment of $2,500 is required immediately before we can even be put on the wait list. Then the remainder of the fee is due upon receipt of the dog after the 6-8 month training period.  As anyone with children know, you would do anything to help your child, and we know having this dog could mean saving his life.  These dogs are trained to recognize his scent, and at night when everyone else is sleeping that dog is on high alert, ready to give the signal if Chase is in need.  We ask that you please consider donating to out cause, no donation is too small, we thank you and hope you are blessed in your giving.
