Tanzania 6 weeks nursing placement fund

Donation protected
for my alternative placement in my final year of my nurse training at university of central lancashire i have applied to spend six weeks nursing in tanzania, africa. i have chosen tanzania as i believe this would be a great place to extend my knowledge and experience in nursing as it is completely opposite to where i carry out my placements now. i am keen to experience the different ways of life, cultures and how health care is delivered. i think this will open my eyes to how different things can be in a country less fortunate than ours. with regards to my nursing practice i feel that a placement in a country where resources are short and there is no basic electricity and water will make me think on my feet and learn not to take things for granted, qualities which will stay with me throughout my nursing career. i am excited at the thought of seeing how procedures are done differently and how health care delivery can differ. i will be travelling with a company called "˜work the world'; they offer a brilliant village experience allowing students to stay with the massai tribe, which i am definitely going to do. living with the maasai tribe for 1 week and working at the local health centre, i couldn't get a better experience of how tanzanian people live and access healthcare. i am keen to see the difference between nurses in africa and us, as well as seeing how traditional and modern medicine work together. i have been told that there is also other opportunities whilst there such as visiting orphanages which i would love to do . i feel i have a lot of care and dedication to give the people and children i may treat in tanzania and i would be keen to become a part of their culture for 6 weeks of my nurse training. i think an experience such as this would stay with me forever and not only develop me as nurse but also as a person. as you can imagine a experience like this doesn't come cheap - the overall price of everything will be £5120 - a figure not easy to achieve from working whilst studying , this is why i have arranged a few fund raising events throughout the next year. on 5th april 2014 i will be doing a sponsored walk from preston to blackpool 16.5 miles , throughout the year i will be doing cake and cupcake sales as well as auctions , and theme nights - all which have been made possible by my local student pub and a lot of kind people, family and friends . i would be so grateful if you could sponsor me and help me get to tanzania and achieve this amazing experience which help me tremendously with my future nursing career in the uk many thanks charlotte .
