Shaving head for Alopecia awareness

Donation protected
I have been affected by Alopecia Areata since I was five years old. I was completely bald as a child and while most of my hair grew back, I am always missing parts of it.

Now, at twenty, I am losing more hair than is possible to conceal.

For this, I am shaving my head on the 1st of January, 2018.

While making a statement that you don't need hair to be beautiful, I wish to raise money for Australia Alopecia Areata Foundation (AAAF). Not enough money is spent on research for this autoimmune condition.

In the 15 years that I first developed this condition, doctors still don't understand what causes Alopecia. No one knows how to prevent it and no one knows how to permanently get rid of it.

Whilst this is not a life-threatening issue, Alopecia Areata does affect a person. I want to, above all, raise awareness for this issue.

According to AAAF, '$500 can help a researcher to go one step further towards finding a cure or acceptable treatment for Alopecia Areata'.  With the money raised, 10 researchers will be able to work towards eradicating Alopecia.

I will be updating my blog weekly, with more personal content and pictures.
