I need help to help others!

I am 14 years old and currently in the 8^th grade in Searcy, AR. I work hard to maintain A-B's academically. I am very involved in my school and am in band and choir. I am also on the Volleyball, Quiz Bowl, Archery and Track Teams, as well as being a cheerleader. To me being a cheerleader is a way of supporting all my fellow students, from football players to the robotics' team. I try to volunteer wherever I am needed. It doesn't matter if it is cleaning a trash can or leading a group. All tasks have importance and I try to complete them with a smile on my face and encouraging word.
I truly believe that, if given the chance, I can help those who are much less fortunate than I am. God has blessed me with the once in a lifetime chance of reaching the hearts and minds of the youth who have much less than I have been blessed with. I have an extraordinary opportunity to travel to Honduras for six-weeks this summer with Teen Missions International. I will be working to help build a girls dormitory and interacting with children at various schools by playing soccer while sharing my love for Christ and the deep sense of spirituality and salvation I have in my heart. We will be living in tents, doing our own laundry in 5 gallon buckets and experiencing life as these children do daily. I will have none of the comforts of home. No electrical devices of any kind. It is extremely important to me to experience their world and move out of my own personal comfort zone. It would be easy to spend another summer at home, hanging out with my friends and being a typical American teenager, but I believe that by doing this, I can better develop into a leader for my generation and set a positive example for people everywhere.
I was raised to believe that it takes a village to raise a child and this is my effort to become an active global village member seeking to make a difference in the lives of children everywhere.

The cost of this trip is going to run around $3500.00. Bills at home due my mother's recent medical issues and losing her job outweigh the fees of my mission trip. This is why I am enlisting the help you, my friends, my family members, my community, my global village to help make this dream possible. The $3500 I am hoping to raise will cover all program costs, airfare, travel insurance, and also any miscellaneous supplies, or fees I am currently unaware of.
