Charli's Heart

As many of you know, the Childers family is expecting a sweet baby girl, Charli, at the beginning of August. Charli is a welcome surprise and a blessing to this family. Unfortunately, Charli has a rare heart defect called Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome . In short, this means that normal blood flow through her heart is affected due to a defect or underdevelopment of the left side of the heart. When Charli is born, her heart will not have the ability to get the oxygen rich blood that she needs. Fortunately, there are surgeries that will greatly increase her chance of survival and she will be receiving her first surgery within a week of birth. Charli will  be spending her first month in the Driscoll Children's Hospital NICU and will have more surgeries to come including the possibility of a heart transplant. 
    If you know Scott and Roxanne, you know that Charli has been blessed with the best parents for this job. You won't find two more loving or dedicated people to their marriage and family. They are preparing to go on an unexpected journey with grace and love and cannot wait to meet their new baby girl!
   However, this journey will be costly. The Childers are blessed to have insurance to assist them with the cost of  surgeries and hospital stays, but it's not enough. Roxanne has to quit her job to stay home with Charli and this is putting stress on their family when they already have enough.  If you can please find it in your heart to give what you can to help with deductibles, home care for Charli and daily living expenses, it would be greatly appreciated. You can easily give money here or directly to the Childers family. We will also be setting up a meal train for when Charli is born as another way to help.
