Charles Porter Funeral & Kids Fund

Donation protected

We seek help to pay for funeral expenses and to provide for the children of our son, Charlie Porter, who passed away suddenly in the early hours of  August 6, 2017

Who was Charlie? He was a cowboy, an honorable man whose independence, kindness and fierce love inspired his family and friends. Charlie Porter lived his life in service to principles like freedom, family devotion, and honesty.

Charlie (41) was born Sept. 5, 1975 in Des Moines, Iowa, the son of Lee Hayes and Craig Sevde. Adopted by Steve Porter after his marriage to Lee in April 1979, Charlie stayed close to his grandparents Ernie and Nadine Sevde until their deaths.

Charlie and his younger brother Michael Porter attended schools in Fort Collins, CO, Cache LaPoudre Junior High in LaPorte and Poudre High School in Fort Collins. Charlie also attended Front Range Community College and Farrier school in Cody, Wyoming. He was a member of the American Farrier Association.

A resident of rural Larimer county, Charlie owned property in Deer Meadows southwest of Livermore, where he kept his horses and his dreams of the perfect home for his family.

Charlie married Lorna Mosher in 1996 and had two children, Alexander Charles (21) and Ashliegh Vay (8). Charlie and Lorna divorced in 2016.

In January, 2012 Charlie was involved in a very serious car accident, suffering multiple injuries including a traumatic brain injury. His death was most likely a result of the seizure disorder that resulted in those injuries.

Most recently, Charlie worked for a variety of contractors and homeowners on building projects in the north county.

Early on Sunday morning, Aug. 6, Charlie experienced respiratory distress and a seizure that took him quickly. He was living in rural Livermore with Rachael Brinkhoff at the time.

Charlie is survived by his parents, Lee and Steve Porter; brother, Michael Porter; son, Alex Porter, age 21; daughter, Ashleigh Porter, age 8; maternal grandfather, James Hayes, as well as his biological father Craig Sevde, five half sisters and many cousins, uncles, nieces and nephews as part of a close and loving family.

He will be deeply missed by his family and many close friends.

Charlie's journey back to health from his accident has been long and arduous and as a result, we seek help to pay basic expenses and for Charlie's daughter Ashleigh.

Charlie's mother, Lee Porter will administer all funds and pay expenses for funeral and other expenses.
