Charlie's Emergency Kidney Treatment

Donation protected
Hello, we are Sarah and Tara, Charlie's moms. Charlie is a 3 year old, pitmix. We rescued her when she was just a puppy. Charlie is the bounciest, happiest, and most affectionate dog. She has a HUGE personality. She has a big sister, Porter, and they are best friends. Porter, a mastiff, is a "chicken" - but Charlie is our brave and bold pup, who has helped over the last few years, make Porter's world a little less scary  -- she is Porter's "emotional support" animal :-).

Suddenly and unexpectedly on 11/6 Charlie began to get sick - it took a few days to realize that it wasn't just an upset stomach and we rushed her to an Emergency Vet near our home at 1:00AM on Saturday morning . After a few x-rays and some fluids, she was sent home with the diagnosis of dehydration and unexplained gastrointestinal upset. Sunday seemed to be an improvement, but Monday morning we were back down hill. We immediately took her to our Primary Veterinarian, where they ran some additional tests/bloodwork. SHE WAS SUFFERING FROM ACUTE RENAL FAILURE and her kidney levels were off the charts. Our vet set up an emergency transfer to a nearby Specialty and Emergency Veterinary Hospital and we moved her right away! She was admitted on Monday night with an unknown and uncertain prognosis - we weren't sure she was going to make it through the night. The sudden renal failure could be from a toxin, Leptospirosis, or another bacterial infection. As we are still waiting on lab results, the cause, at this point, is still unknown. What we do know, is that regardless of the cause, her aggressive treatment plan to save her life remains the same. Charlie is our fur baby, and we would do anything to save her - that however does not negate the HUGE financial costs we are incurring.  On top of the mounting hospital bills, when Charlie comes home (because we are being super optimistic that our tough little nugget is going to pull through) we know there will be even more expenses associated with her recovery.

It was hard for Tara and I to make the decision to start up a Go Fund me, because asking for help is not something we are good at doing -- but we need to ask for help.

If you are able, we would appreciate any help you may be able to provide - either a donation, sharing her story, or just praying for her and sending positive thoughts!

Any donations will be used to pay her existing hospital bills (~$7,500)  and be used for her future follow up appointments at the Specialty Veterinary Hospital.

We NEED Charlie to recover, get healthy, and come home. Her sister needs her and we need her to get better. Our home is not the same without her here.
