Charlie Strong

Charlie arrives!
With absolute joy, parents Anastasia and Kyle welcomed their sweet Charlie Michael into the world on
July 29 th , 2018. After an easy delivery and a few minutes of family bonding, Charlie showed signs of
breathing trouble and was whisked off to the NICU. Just a few short hours later, he was undergoing
emergency heart surgery at Los Angles Children’s Hospital. Charlie was born with a heart that needed to
be repaired immediately, and fortunately his skilled doctors were able to address his needs quickly.

Charlie’s condition
Charlie was born with TAPVR (abnormal development of pulmonary veins), L-TGA (transposition of the
great arteries), DORV (double-outlet right ventricle), and heterotaxy (a condition impacting
development and arrangement of his organs). Despite successful early surgeries to make his heart
function better, Charlie remains in the cardio-thoracic intensive care unit at LA Children’s Hospital. He
has had a few more minor surgeries and invasive procedures, and as he grows he will require additional
surgeries to get his body working correctly. This sweet boy has endured so much in his lifetime already,
and will go through so much more before he even gets to kindergarten. Prayers and support mean the
world to him and his parents.

Charlie’s need
Proud parents Anastasia and Kyle are by Charlie’s side every day, reading to him, holding him, making
cheerful signs and cards for his room. They are fortunate to be staying at the LA Ronald McDonald
House so that they can be near the hospital. However, they are unable to work and the rising costs of
Charlie’s care are taking quite a financial toll on them. Both of them enjoy their work in service industry
occupations, however neither of them receives sufficient paid time off to cover their absence from
work.
We are raising money to help Anastasia and Kyle manage daily expenses and home-related expenses, in
addition to funds to cover their stay at the Ronald McDonald House and Charlie’s ongoing medical care.
