Charlie Strong (Help Rehab)

Donation protected
On Feb 27,2018 my brother Charlie was assaulted. Charlie suffered a lot of injuries including 6mm left subdural hematoma, left subarachnoid hemorrhage, right epidural hematoma, midline shift to right 8mm, right temporal bone fracture and a petrosal bone fracture (this mainly breaks down to bleeding on his brain bruising on the brain and blood clots). Brain matter was effected and we are unsure of the amount of brain damage that he will have for the rest of his life until we can get some type of rehab going. Charlie had the left bone flap removed from his head to allow swelling and will later have that replaced which will be another surgery in itself. On 3-4-18 Charlie had a tracheostomy which has now been removed since he has shown improvement with breathing on his own. Charlie has a long road of recovery and unfortunately he didnt have insurance at the time of the assault. We have filed for medicaid and disability, however it could take up to 90 days before medicaid is approved and up to 5 months before we could hear something from disability. The hospital rehab will not take him unless we have a discharge plan and without active medicaid we do not have that. Charlie will need 24/7 care at least until we find what all he will be capable of doing. Once medicaid has been approved Charlie will need to go to a facility until we can get more answers and help for care. Once again with that option we find ourselves in a hard place because medicaid will not cover rehab for him at a facility. This is something that we will have to pay for out of pocket. We are asking for donations to help cover those cost since most funds are exhausted and this was something so unexpected and unfortunate. It is very important for Charlies healing brain to receive the correct therapy he needs as soon as possible. He currently only gets about 15 minutes a day with rehab with minimal activities versus the 3 or more hours he NEEDS. We are open to other options and opinions of solutions as well from anyone who has been through, knows about or has experienced a traumatic brain injury. Thank you all in advance for any donations or prayers.
(Our ideal solution would be to be able to bring Charlie home with us and care for him with everything he needs. We arent in the position to do this since my mother is raising 4 grandchildren and works two jobs. Charlie can also have random outburst of anger which includes throwing things or physically fighting which can be dangerous for kids and even other adults. We are told this is very common for head injuries. We hope with the right rehab that I can have my big brother back to a somewhat normal state, and my mother can have her first born son back.)
