Plea for Charlie, accident victim
Donation protected
Hi, I'm Charlie. I did a dumb thing a couple of days ago. My pawrents were out of town for the holiday and my sitter left the dog door open to the back yard so I could go in and out of the house, just as my pawrents do. I was anxious, though, since they had been gone a few days and I decided to look for them. I managed to wiggle out of a small gap in the gate (It was tight, but I did it!) and ran to the front to see if they were there. Nope! Our neighbor saw me and tried to get me to come to him, but I wasn't having it. I ran away and not long after, I was hit by a car. A witness took me to an emergency vet, who found my pawrents' contact info on my chip. They gave permission to treat my injuries and got ready to rush back home. On the way to the airport, they were told how badly I was hurt and surgery was necessary. They said to go ahead! It was a six hour ordeal to repair internal organ damage, empty my stomach, and resection my bowel. Recovery will be long and slow with a hospital stay, but I'm stable for now and taking it one day at a time.
Friends, I'm Sharon, Charlie's grandmother in Texas. Charlie's surgery was very expensive: almost $20,000. My daughter and her partner gave their permission to treat without hesitation, as Charlie and her sister dog, Bree, are their children. We would be most grateful if contributions can be made to offset this expense. 100% of funds raised will go to Charlie's care. Any donation, no matter the amount, is welcome, as are prayers for her continued recovery! Thank you, with love and gratitude!
