Family, friends and community know Patrick and Kate as a fun-loving, caring and supportive couple while also being loving and involved parents to Sadie, Mary Grace and little Charlie. They are all now faced with an unexpected chapter in their lives.
Charlie started showing signs of illness in the beginning of March. He had seen various doctors before the last ER visit discovered what was causing his symptoms. An MRI revealed tumors and lesions in his brain and along his spine. He was admitted to Riley Children's Hospital in Indianapolis on March 25th. Two days later, the largest tumor in his brain was surgically removed. Pathology reported this to be a Medulloblastoma, and confirmed cancer. Chemotherapy treatment began April 13th.
The Neuro Oncology Team at Riley have prepared the Lanes for at least six months of inpatient care, including a stem cell transplant. A CaringBridge site has been created to keep loved ones updated on Charlie's journey to healing & a full recovery. https://www.caringbridge.org/visit/charleslane
Funds received will go towards medical and rehabilitation costs, care for his big sisters, and anything that will aid in Charlie's comfort during his stay at Riley. Any additional funds will be donated to the Riley Children's Foundation.
