The short story is my father needs oxygen 24/7 now and we can't afford a mobile oxygenator so I'm asking for help.

The long story and I make no promises on just HOW long this will be but here it is.
Anyone who has talked to me for more than 2 minutes has no doubt heard about my father and gets a small sense of how much I love and appreciate him. He raised us 3 kids by himself when my mom walked out, he did this back in a time when most men just never did that... and most mother's didn't leave like that either. He has always been there for me every second of every single day. Everything I've learned I've learned from him, from my love of animals to my foul mouth. He taught me to always try to do what's right even when it rubs people wrong, and to be proud of it. My father has an awe inspiring love of people and a drive to help those in need even if he's down to his last dime, if you need it and he has it you can be guaranteed he will give it to you and ask for nothing in return. Now he needs help and won't ask so here I am, please help me give back to a man who has given so much.
Most of you know that some time back dad underwent heart bypass surgery and because of complications he lost both of his legs. It was an extremely long road but he recovered and learned to walk with 2 prosthetic legs and the love and support from the staff at Martinsburg V.A. Hospital. As if he hadn't pushed himself enough my dad then completely blew my mind and began volunteering there at the hospital with other amputees coming home from service. Dad never lets his situation get him down or stop him from helping others, his mindset is "it could always be worse".
2 years ago he lost his youngest daughter (my sister) to a heroin overdose and as awful as I know it was for him he never wavered in his support for my brother and I, he's our squishy cuddly rock. I don't know how he does it but he does and words can't express my appreciation. Shortly after Timmi died he finally came to terms with the fact that it was time to come live with my boyfriend and I so this past May we made the move and he's with us all the time which I love but I know must be hard on him giving up his independence like that.
Dad's love of people, being a social butterfly and of course not being able to survive solely on disability made him take a job at Rose Auto Clinic in Fredericksburg 2 days a week and I think it has been the driving force behind his wonderful disposition post amputations as his health is getting worse. He lives to go to work on Friday and I can't take that away it will destroy me just as surely as i know without a doubt it will him. However if we can't purchase a mobile oxygenator he will have no choice but to quit working those 2 days a week.
He was just released from the hospital yesterday after being admitted with pneumonia Monday and unfortunately now he will be on oxygen for the rest of his life. The tanks that are covered in his V.A. benefits will not allow him to continue working as they only last 3 to 4 hours and have to be charged from the base unit at home. Combine that with the fact that I'm also concerned about him maintaining his balance on his prosthetics while trying to pull around a tank when he struggles with breathing and walking to begin with.
The only solution to his retaining any semblance of the life he deserves while using oxygen is a mobile oxygenator which we can't afford, I know times are hard for a lot of us and I'm asking for something that some of you just can't give which I completely understand and in that case just send your good vibes and prayers. However if by chance you have a couple extra bucks this week and want to do something amazing with it then here's that chance, every dollar will help get me closer to giving back to a man who man that has given me and everyone he knows so much.

With all my gratitude,
Christy Mallory
