Charles “Buck”Hanson Final Expenses

Donation protected
On November 20, 2017 my step-dad Buck took his last breath and passed peacefully in his sleep . The past year and half he has struggled with several medical issues that caused him to go from a very hard working never miss a day of work kind of guy to being on complete medical leave from his job due to his deteriorating health. My step dad was a very humble man who quit high school when he was a sophomore to get a job to support his mother and siblings after the death of his father. He was a very dependable hard worker that at times worked several jobs to provide what he could since my mom was forced to quit working after being declared disabled. Years before. When he was physically unable to work he and my mother were facing financial hardship...what little savings and retirement he had managed to set aside could be used to pay for everyday expenses and mortgage or health insurance /medical care. My mom convinced him that she would rather be homeless on the street than lose him because he couldn’t get the medical care he needed. Ultimately that is what happened.. They recently lost their home to foreclosure , still have a mountain of unpaid bills/medical bills and was officially released from his job last month after FMLA ran out. They had no choice but to move in with me about a month ago which was difficult for them losing their independence , feeling like a burden and my step dad felt he failed as a husband after losing everything he worked his entire life for. Losing him has been devastating for my entire family but what has made it even more devastating is finding out that the life insurance policy he had in place to cover his final expenses was cancelled by his employer at the end of October. His plan was to continue the policy and pay the premium although it would be higher out of pocket for him. He received his bill for November premium , paid the bill thinking everything had been transitioned to continue only to find out last week that his employer terminated the policy on 10/31/2017 and it wasn’t rolled over to be continued. He spent many hours trying to right the wrong , the provider contacted him This past Friday left him a message to let him know that because his policy had been terminated he would have to create a new policy for coverage to reinstate... the message was received after hours so my step dad would have to wait til Monday to discuss with provider. That conversation was not able to be had since he passed in his sleep Sunday night / Monday morning. Now my mom is without means to take care of final expenses and a service. As so many of you know I am a huge advocate of fundraising and helping those in need and many of you that I ask to help when I’m raising funds open your hearts and help however you can. I always declare every little bit helps and no donation is too small. And the irony of it all is now here I am , in a position where my own family needs help and So many have genuinely asked how they can help but it’s too awkward for me to say We need help financially to cover expenses. But I am feeling so guilty that I advocate for so many others in their time of need and can’t find the courage to ask for the same help when it’s my family.. So with that I am swallowing my pride and humbling asking for assistance to help my mom and family with expenses to honor the man that so selflessly gave us all he had..

Thank you for all your thoughts and prayers at this time, we are so thankful and grateful for each and everyone of you.
