Charles And His dog "Max"

I'm disabled and tried to start the process of adopting a service dog last winter and became discouraged.  I applied for one through a non-profit in my state and they didn't approve me.  Turns out they only place a few handfuls of dogs a year but get 50 applicants a week!  And that's only after you let them use you to help them raise $25,000 to support their non-profit.  I didn't make the cut.

A friend said she knew someone who could teach me to train one myself.  Well, I tried to train one 30 years ago and it didn't turn out so hot.  In fact he was plain and simple a "bad dog".  I took him everywhere I went for many years, but I didn't know how to fix his problems.  I didn't want it to turn out like that again.  so I forgot about another dog.

Then in the end of February that friend contacted me and said she knew of a dog that had service animal training that was up for adoption.  "Max" had failed his final training after a significant amount of training had already been invested in him.

What did he do wrong?  Nope... not a aggressive bone in his body... nope loved cats, kids, and other dogs... nope he was called a "sweetheart" and a "lover" by all who knew him... His crime?  he only picked stuff off the floor and handed it to the person in the wheel chair 70% of the time instead of the required 99% of the time.

Well, I guess we all have faults, but I think I can live with his!  He has a ton of obedience type training and was OK with public stuff too.  The trainer wanted $2,000 for the adoption.  And my friend, Rachelle, immediately offered to pay half!  That brings it down to just $1,000.  But I know I have a hard time, being very financially limited, to come up with enough money for every little thing each month and I want to make sure "Max" is supported, so I'm asking for all the incidentals that I'll need to take care of him for his first year with me.

I'm raising money to pay for me to drive to Arizona to meet him, to pick him up if all goes well for me and (him too), and to pay for his food,  shots, rattlesnake antivenom and Front line expenses for the next year.

I appreciate anything you can do to help.  gofundme says people rarely donate to people they don't know or have some connection to.  I hope you can help.

I've scheduled my trip to Arizona for March 6 and 7  while I'll already be in Las Vegas on a trip.  Looking forward to meeting Max in person, with your help.

Thanks.
