Year 2... We're back again! Last year was the start of something that we got such great and positive (+) feedback on, so we decided to do it again this year and continue growing our cause.
This is the OFFICIAL "CHARITY BEGINS AT HOME" GoFundMe for 2016.
Our Goal: To raise $10,000 this year to help cater to the homeless in the DC, Maryland, Virginia area.
Who Are We? A few young millennials looking to make a difference in our community. We believe that in order to impact the world, we must first make a difference and be a light in the community God has placed us in.
My name is Malachi Fuller, I am speaking on behalf of a group of young individuals who want to do something positive for our community this November as Thansgiving rolls around once again. I've seen first hand the effects that homelessness can have on loved ones, friends, and even just random strangers. It brings sadness to my heart knowing that there are people affected by this in the same areas where I've grown up and become the person I am today.
Our missions for this GoFundMe campaign are simple... we want to feed families and individuals in need on Thanksgiving and furthermore, restore joy and spread love this season. We want to help those who are helping the homeless on a full time basis make a difference. But we can't do it alone, we need your help... the help of a community that cares about what's happening around us.
In a world where the homeless are starting to become treated less and less as human beings, let's aim to show compassion for those who are less fortunate than us during this holiday season. I want to personally thank each and every one of you that gives to this cause out of your heart and/or spreads the word about it. It cannot be done without you.
Beneficiaries: Our primary beneficiary is the Central Union Mission. We will also be donating portions to the Bread for the City organization, as well as the Capital Area Food Bank... All of which have locally-platformed campaigns.
In addition to this online fundraiser, The Hyyer Life, LLC and Kings Gold are teaming up to meet this goal by having their 2nd Annual Charity Basketball Tournament called Ball Through the Fall, where all the proceeds from the tournament and fundraiser will go towards helping cater to these homeless individuals in the DC, Maryland, and Virginia areas. The tournament will be held on the Saturday, December 17th.
Every penny counts, literally. Again, EVERY contribution helps us help others in our community! What will you do during this season of giving thanks?
