On October 5th while I was getting ready for work I suddenly experienced a large gush of fluid and immediately knew my water had broken, but I was only 27 weeks pregnant.
My sweet husband rushed me to the hospital while I called my mom, mother in law, and managers to figure out logistics of what the next 24 hours might bring.
At the hospital they confirmed PPROM, started me on steroids and antibiotics, and admitted me. They told me the goal is to keep Alice inside my body until 34 weeks gestation, until then I am on bedrest.
Facing a hospital stay that long is intimidating, the thought that Alice might come out sooner than that is terrifying though. No matter what Alice is going to spend some time in the NICU, our goal is to set her up for success the very best we can.
