Charity Skydive for GIST cancer Charity UK

Hello I’m Francesca and I am raising money to do a Skydive, the funds will cover half the cost to dive (£200 all together) and then the remaining funds will be going to GIST Cancer Charity UK on behalf of my dad. We will be jumping on the 3rd November 2021 and want to raise as much money as we can! Every donation is appreciated no matter how small

A GIST (Gastrointestinal Stromal Tumour) is a very rare type of sarcoma cancer that forms inside the soft tissue in your abdomen. So rare that there is only ONE charity for it!!

Just a shortened version of why me and Cat have decided to raise money for this charity; there was so much I could of wrote and so much more that happened in between these events but these are the main points I wanted to get across❤️

As some of you are aware my dad ( Graham Wilkinson ) has literally been to hell and back these past few months :(

Firstly my dad got rushed into hospital with internal bleeding which we later found out was from a 22cm tumour in his abdomen which is Grade 4.

It wasn’t looking promising for him in hospital after a week, he was deteriorating fast and it was heartbreaking. He had to be transferred to Sheffield Northern General Hospital for the emergency operation, so we had to say our goodbyes because we were told it was a very risky operation and he only had a 50% chance of making it!

Thankfully luck and an amazing surgeon was on our side and he pulled through!! He spent some very long weeks in hospital recovering which were hell for him but thankfully he’s home now.

Unfortunately we have just found out the cancer is still next to his kidney, is in his bowel and has also spread to his liver. The specialists have said he will never be cancer free but he has recently started an oral form of chemotherapy to try and stop it growing. Fingers and toes crossed it works!

In the mean time I want to do as much as I can to raise awareness for GIST cancer charity.

And I just want to say please don’t take your family or life for granted and cherish every moment possible. Live your life with no regrets!
