Here is a bit more about Kyli and me...
Two things get me up in the morning other than the need to pee:
1. My absolute love for my pup, and;
2. My never-ending passion for making a positive difference in this world.
So when I reached my mid-fifties and began truly reflecting on the sum of my life (usually over a cup of Courage, Grit, or Balance☕️), I was struck by a need to do something that would highlight these two values in a big way; in a way that would yank me out of my comfort zone and prove that anyone can move mountains for something they feel ready to do. This idea was so strong that I knew if I didn't act on it, I'd grow to regret it.
Enter Character Walk 2023 - A Walk for Paws and a Cause.
I’m walking from North Carolina to Maine with my dog, Kyli.
The PAWS is simple. I am partnering with seven different animal rescues along my route. These rescues do incredible work for cats and dogs—all the way to horses! As I walk, I will raise awareness of these organizations' efforts while highlighting their many success stories.
The CAUSE in this journey is the project I am launching in March of 2023. The Mill is a new social media platform that inspires people to live a life of learning and adventure while positively impacting our communities.
Some fun facts:
I'm starting this adventure from North Carolina because that is where the journey for my adventure pup, Kyli began. She is the greatest adventure buddy in the world (perhaps I'm a little biased!) and is also doing the Character Walk with me.
⬛I'm ending the adventure in Camden, ME because that's where I rescued my cat, Teak. He was a true character...he'd traveled over 50,000 miles in the car with Kyli and me. Unfortunately, in October, Teak went outside for the last time. We are determined to make the Character Walk successful in Teak's memory.

So, I am here to ask for your help! A ton of expenses are needed for us to accomplish this journey. We plan on three months of walking to ensure we take time to talk to as many people as possible and raise awareness of the rescues. Money raised in this campaign will help offset some of the expenses that will allow us to do the walk.
- Vet Care - I want to make sure Kyli is going to be healthy.
- Lodging - We hope to camp for most of the trip but you know how Mother Nature can be!
- Food for both of us
- Equipment - There is equipment that is needed that we don't use on an everyday basis.
Our promise to you: Any and ALL money left over will go directly to the organizations involved. Our goal is to cover, or at least offset, our expenses before Character Walk 2023 begins on April 2nd. Once the Walk begins, we plan to deliver 100% of the funds raised during the Character Walk to the organizations...a goal of $250,000.
