Chapel Ferguson

Baby Chapel was diagnosed with the Croup two days ago [Tuesday]. She acted fine yesterday and was playing and feeling good. Thursday morning she woke up with projectile vomiting. Caitlin took her to the walk-in clinic at 2:00 am and they said she was constipated and sent her home. After she started throwing up, she was then taken to Emergency Room and upon arrival a few minutes later began having seizures. Her temperature was 109 and heart rate was 230’s-250’s. They were able to get everything down to normal by intubating her and got her in stable condition to care flight to Cooks. Cooks has her comfortable, but her blood pressure has to be monitored and controlled because it keeps dropping. They put in an arterial line to help with that. She definitely has pneumonia and is septic. They think she could have seized because she was given too much lidocaine in Abilene, but it could have also been due to the high fever.

*UPDATE ON THURSDAY 9PM*
So to the best of my recollection, here goes, Chapel's heart rate is too high and her blood pressure is too low. Her sp02 is low. They’re still draining fluid off her lungs and having to monitor for more seizures. They have her on three medications and have her intubated none of which she can do without. The next 24 hours are critical and we’ve been told she’s probably the sickest kid they currently have at the hospital.

Updates will continue to be posted for all followers and donors! Thank YOU for your continued love and support for this family!

Any and all love offerings would be greatly appreciated to help this precious family cover the cost of medical expenses, travel, meals away from home, hotel expenses, etc. The family has shared that they have health insurance, which is a blessing, and that any money donated beyond what is needed to cover expenses will be donated back to Cook's Children's Hospital for the great work they do!
