Chantal's medical expenses

My Niece Chantal Enns was in a bad car accident on July 11 2017. She was taken to the hospital via ambulance and the attending Dr at the emergency department stated she had whiplash and sent her home with instructions to take 10 days off work. He stated she was to do exercises to help with the whiplash. There were no xrays done at that time even though hospital protocol states there should have been before she was taken off the back board.

She then returned to work after taking 11 day off. She was in so much pain that she had fainted and was taken back to the hospital. The attending Dr at that time did xrays and found that she had in fact broken her back and was walking around with a broken back the entire 11 days. He then had her medivaced to Vancouver. Once in Vancouver she had an entire team of neurosurgeons. At that time her back had started to heal so they decided against surgery or re braking her back. She was there for 4 days then sent back home.

Since then she has been in and out of Dr's and the hospital due to pain, all the while doing all the exercises that she was given to help heal. Her back started forming a strange lump that one ER Dr stated was scar tissue. She continued to be told she was healing although no new xrays had been done.

In effert to help her, Chantal's dad had took her to a chiropractor that deals solely with the spine. He did xrays and found that her back was healing crooked and twisting causing numerous issues through her ribs, hips and legs. The lump in her back that she was told was scar tissue turned out to be her ribs as her spine is twisting.

She is in so much pain from all of this that she has recently been hospitalized with mental issues caused by the extreme pain she is constantly in. She is on a very long waiting list for the proper surgery to fix her back so she can have a normal life again. Until the surgery is done, she needs home traction, back braces, shoe lifts (as her one side is now almost an inch shorter than the other) and special cushions for sitting.
There will be extra expenses with the back brace as she will need a new one every time her spine moves even 1/4 of an inch.
None of what she needs is covered by provincal medical.
Back brace is $5000.00 (every time they have to make a new one)
Home traction is $7000.00
Shoe lifts are $500
Special cushions and bed $3000

Please consider donating to help this young woman get a normal life back. She is an amazing young lady with a heart of gold.
