Changing the World by Learning

Donation protected
Education is a funny thing.  With it there are no guarantees in life yet at the same time, the ability to change one's world is infinitely expanded by the knowledge one has obtained.

Here in Kenya, that knowledge is a valuable commodity. Since all public schools are fee based, too  many of the poor (more than half of Kenya's 50 million citizens (living on 3.3 US dollars a day) are left out meaning their ability to change their world becomes lost within the reality of merely surviving to the next day.

As a point of reference, according to the latest survey published this year, more than 1/2 of Kenya's households (25 million people) live on $100 USD per month.

And though things are improving at the national level, the local level still finds millions of children unable to attend school. This is especially true for young girls.

You, Ruth and I cannot help all children get to school this coming January, but Ruth and I have chosen a total of 25 young women and men who are bright, have unlimited potential and who will NOT be able to attend secondary school without help.  These are children from our rural home area in Kenya so we know the children and their situations extremely well.

On average each student will need $450 US dollars to attend school for the next school year beginning this January. This includes boarding fees.  Their parents or guardians will also have to do their part and will be expected to pay roughly 10% of their children's fees and expenses.

The donations received through this project will go directly to Ruth and I where we convert the dollars into Kenyan Shillings via the ATM system here in Kenya.  We then personally deposit the funds for each student in their school's banking account (with their name on it) so there is no chance for anyone (including parents) of stealing the money.

After receiving the receipt of deposit from the bank which includes the student's name, Ruth and I give the receipt to the parents or guardian of each student funded who will then take to the school on the first day of registration come early January 2019.  Ruth and I also keep a copy of each receipt for our own records "just in case".

These 25 young men and women, if given more knowledge, have  the ability to change their lives and those of their families over time.  They just need to get the knowledge.  If successful, this project will ensure they get the chance to do just that.

Ruth and I passionately ask for your support.  We cannot help the millions of children needing assistance, yet we CAN  help these 25 young men and women WITH YOUR SUPPORT.
