Change from Within: how to determine your role in diversifying the environmental movement, so we can all focus on saving the planet – together.
Performance Dates:
June 1st // 7:00 pm at the Olympic Sculpture Park
June 2nd // 3:30 pm at UW's Ethnic & Cultural Center in coordination with the Racial Ecologies Conference
Change from Within is a multi-disciplinary research project and performance organized by Jasmmine Ramgotra, Miss Next Century 2017, and supported by The Center for Creative Conservation.
The performance is based on Ramgotra's in-person interview research with leaders in various sectors of the environmental field, focusing on solution-based ideas for improving the state of human social diversity in environmental organizations. The performance aims to create a clear narrative for the audience to follow through both sound and contemporary movement. The piece creates a framework for each individual to determine their role as an agent for positive change to improve and foster diversity in the environmental field or otherwise.
By supporting Change from Within you are demonstrating your commitment to increasing visibility of diversity issues in the environmental field.
Because of you, we are able to advance the exposure of inequity, injustice, and inequality through artistic mediums, mediums that allow us to connect our deepest feelings to the logical reasoning of information, data, and collected scholarly content - creating a holistic and multi-faceted approach to positive change.
Your donation also helps set a new precedent - that artists deserve to be paid well for their work. Our long-term goal is to eliminate the "starving artist" stereotype, and acknowledge that these individuals deserve more for pouring their full-selves and their souls into the important work they do every day.
