Cham’s fight against her tumor.

Last November, my sister, Cham, discovered a tumor on her pituitary gland.

For the last 6 to 7 years of her life, she has never had a regular menstrual cycle. We all thought it was just how it worked in our family under my mother who was the same until her mid-20s. All of the doctors she saw said it was either because of stress or an unbalanced lifestyle until she met a doctor in Georgia. The doctor here immediately checked her hormone levels and saw that a specific part of her hormones was as high of what a pregnant woman should have. She then led her to an MRI scan for a tumor on her pituitary gland which ended up being exactly what the doctor had predicted.

Since then, she has been fighting to shrink the tumor in size with harsh medication. Her doctor had strongly recommended that she watches the tumor to see how it reacts to the medication before undergoing any surgery to remove the tumor. Since her last MRI scan last month, the size of the tumor was the same.

She started out taking Bromocriptine but the side effects were dreadful. She vomited every meal, always nauseous, she swelled up her legs down, constant breathing problems, diarrhea, loss of appetite, migraine, dizziness, almost every other side effect you could think of. She lost about 20lbs within the first two months of taking the medication and there was no gaining back.

Her side effects didn't change when she switched medications. It stayed the same making her unable to work anymore. She quit her job as of this week, therefore she forfeited all her insurance eligibilities she was able to take advantage of. She now has to handle all the incoming medical bills by herself.

She needs as much help as she can. She needs to be able to pay for herself and unfortunately, the rest of our family is not in any better situation to help out. I myself am a student, my parents work from 5am-8pm every day except Sundays and they recently went bankrupt losing possession of everything they owned. It's going to be a long recovery process until everything goes back to normal again in this transition of life for her.

She’s been trying to take out private loans on her own but as I have mentioned, our family is going through a very tough time and because of that, she has been rejected from all banks. As of her state right now, she’s just constantly been running into walls.

I’ve put this story up without her knowing because she’s been a giving person all her life but thinks it’s a nuisance to receive. I know God has great plans ahead of her, though, this is a time in her life where she really, really needs support.

Please keep, and continue to keep her in your prayers!

Thank you and God bless,
Hannah.
