I was diagnosed with Breast Cancer in July 2014 after routine mammogram. Had MRI, Multiple Ultrasounds, and a Thermogram (I ha e dense breast tissue took over a month to diagnose).  Although my cancer eneded up being non-invasive and not in my lymph nodes, the tumor was quite large and according to my doc, she was very suprised that it had not spread and was contained--and with a double mastechomy, my cancer was removed.  The last few months have been a rollercoaster ride in many ways...terrifying, anxiety ridden, full of determination, taking control of my health/diet, full of extreme gtatitude (for all of you), and has made me see life even more preciously. In the midst of it all, I got married (2 days after diagnosis) and following surgery totaled my car, moved my mom out of her home and into an instutition, and sent my sister off to college.  I guess one of the things I let go of was thinking I could manage everything on my own.  I have let others help me....in different ways....and allowing that has made navigating this all much easier.  My ability to keep up with co-pays, working with hospitals and docs with payment arrangments, and going to nathuropath would not be possible without the financial help that has been given.  I want everyone to have this kind of support and also find ways to "pay it forward".   Although the job I took when I moved to Lawrence does not pay well, the insurance has been a blessing, the crazy thing is that even with insurance there are sooooooo many medical bills!  Plus, intuitively, I know that seeing a naturopath to manage my hormones and stay on top of my health and be sure I am really addressing the UNDERLYING issue of my cancer is important so that it does not develop in my uterus or ovaries.....areas where estrogen dominance can cause all kinds of problems. Thus----the financial contributions have made a huge difference in dealing with cancer.  Although I have met my goal for this year, next years doctor appointments and surgery will be new deductibles and more co-pays and keeping up with all that stuff!  So, still gratefully accepting gifting. Also accepting prayers, love, support in forms of knowledge, sharing, caring and just connecting with one another.  Also, interested in giving back in different ways. That also nurtures my soul. Much love. So much love.
